Demo Candidate for State Senate weighs in on Abortion, Conceal Carry

While Delegate Mike McKay and Allegany County Commissioner Jake Shade were making headlines the past few months battling over the GOP nomination for the District One State Senate seat- the lone Democrat in the race spent his time preparing for November. Michael Dreisbach (Drice-bach), a Garrett County businessman who among other things is owner/operator of the Savage River Lodge,  will face Mckay in the Nov. 8 general election. He talked with WCBC News recently about the campaign, his platform and about some of the more hot button issues in Maryland. No issue is getting more focus in recent months than the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. He said first and foremost he doesn’t believe government should be involved in what he views as a very personal health matter…

                                             

Another Supreme Court ruling being felt in Maryland centers on the conceal carry gun issue. On July 5th  Governor Larry Hogan directed the Maryland State Police to suspend the ‘good and substantial reason’ standard to wear, carry or transport a regulated firearm on your person. Dreisbach said while he is a believer in the second amendment, the new rule unfortunately has the potential to do more harm than good when it comes to community safety…
