Democrat candidate Anthony Joseph thinks he can overcome party affiliation

August 31st, 2022 by WCBC Radio

In 2010  Kevin Kelly was re-elected to serve another term in the Maryland House of Delegates- and in the 12 years since- no other Democrat has been elected to office in Allegany County. It is an obstacle Democrat candidate for County Commissioner Anthony Joseph thinks he can overcome- and he has been receiving some assistance from a member of the other party.   Joseph, a 20 year-old Frostburg State University student and Cumberland native, will appear on November’s ballot along with Republicans David Caporale, Creade Brodie Jr and William Atkinson. Recent history suggests a significant challenge as the county is now 2-1 in terms of a voting edge for the GOP. While members of the Democrat party have been elected to non partisan seats such as the city council and school  board- none have been elected to an office that requires them to show party affiliation. Joseph tells WCBC News his goal is to work for everyone, be it Republican, Democrat or Independent…

Ironically one of those most helpful to him during this campaign has been Commissioner Caporale- who took time to  introduce Joseph to those in attendance at last week’s commissioners meeting.  Joseph said he wouldn’t call it an endorsement, but is thankful for Caporale’s counsel…
