On Saturday, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of York Place in reference to a male subject assaulting a female. Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the female victim who stated that she was assaulted by her live-in boyfriend, Shawn Ellis May. The victim stated that May pushed her down to the ground causing her to have scratches on her right elbow and right leg. May was then placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. May was then taken for his initial appearance at District Court. May was released on his personal recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.
The victim did not require medical treatment.
Arrested:
Shawn Ellis May – age 29 – Cumberland, MD
Charges:
Second degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Officers responded to a residence on E. Fourth St. for a report Domestic Assault. Upon their arrival they made contact with the victim who advised that he was assaulted after an argument with his aunt Christina Marie Sheetz. The victim further stated he and his siblings had gotten into an argument with his aunt and were told to leave. They left and then contacted their parents. All of them then returned to the residence to talk with Sheetz. Sheetz then became irate and attacked the victim. He advised that Sheetz punched him in the mouth. Officers observed injuries to the victim consistent to what he stated happened. A witness and the Sheetz were contacted at which time they advised of the same facts to the incident as the victim did. Sheetz was placed under arrest and brought to PH where she was charged and processed.
Christina Maria Sheetz Age: 28 E. Fourth St., Cumberland, MD.
Charge: Assault 2nd Degree
Sheetz was taken for a Bond Hearing and released on her personal recognizance.
