During the November 2023 election ballot counting process, suspicious letters were sent to election offices across the country, with at least one letter containing fentanyl. This has brought to the forefront again the safety of mail handling that was highlighted in 2001 with Anthrax attacks. Locally, the Allegany County Board of Elections has not had any incidents with mail tampering but Elections Administrator Diane Loibel says that the staff will be undergoing training…
