Energy Efficiency Assistance

July 27th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

Allegany and Garrett counties will benefit from grants awarded by the Maryland Governor’s office to increase the number of homes eligible for energy efficiency assistance.  $4 million in grants were awarded to six jurisdictions across the state. Two of the state’s rehabilitation programs – the Homeowner Assistance Fund Whole Home Grant Program and the Maryland Housing Rehabilitation program have been consolidated.  The new program will increase the number of homes assessed for energy efficiency improvements but have been deferred for health and safety reasons.  Across the state, nearly 300 homes will be able to proceed with comprehensive energy efficiency retrofits that will improve heating, cooling, supply hot water and provide lighting.
