Ethics Charges Against Delegation Members

October 1st, 2025 by WCBC Radio

The recent trip by four Maryland legislators to Israel is facing an ethics complaint. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, has filed a complaint with the Maryland General Assembly’s Committee on Legislative Ethics, saying the “50 States-One Israel” trip happened while Israel was committing genocide in its war with Hamas. Senator Mike McKay is one of the four cited in the complaint, but he tells WCBC the entire trip was looked at and approved beforehand…

“This trip was actually vetted from ethics. As a matter of fact, there was a delegate there who’s on the ethics board. The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House signed off on all four of us going.”

McKay went on to say that CAIR’s complaint contains wrong information including who actually went on the trip…

“So even in your complaint, you can’t even get who actually went on the trip correct. Which speaks to, when you’re only a centimeter deep in the subject, you really shouldn’t be making ethics charges.”
