The Evergreen Heritage Center has been honored with the Maryland Historical Trust Award for Excellence in Community Impact. The center earned the award for their Appalachian Time Travel program, a field trip for fourth graders in Allegany County to take them through 200 years of local history. “We have a lot of history here. Our foundation focuses on historical preservation, environmental conservation, and education. We’ve received a lot of awards for education and conservation, but now this is really focusing on the historical aspect of our personality, so it’s very, very meaningful to us.”
