On Friday at approximately 6:40 pm, Troopers from the McHenry Barrack responded to westbound I-68 at the 1 mile marker for the report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2012 Toyota Highlander, had been traveling east on I-68. The Toyota Highlander lost control due to wet road conditions and spun across the center median and onto westbound lanes of I-68. The Toyota Highlander was then struck in a head on collision with a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup, operated by Wallace Bulford of Terra Alta, WV. Wallace Bulford, along with two other passengers which were in the GMC Sierra, were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Toyota Highlander was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld until proper notifications can be made. Lane closures were intermittent during the investigation; entire roadway was reopened at approximately 2330 hours.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Department reports that an accident claimed the life of one driver and sent two others to the hospital in Randolph County on Monday morning. The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. on Route 219. According to reports, the vehicle was traveling north on 219 when it crossed the median and hit a Coca-Cola truck head on. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies said the truck driver pulled a 5-year-old girl out of the vehicle as it caught fire. She was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Her condition is not known at this time. The truck driver was taken to Davis Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The names of the victims are not being released at this time as the investigation continues.
