A man died early this morning after a two-vehicle crash in Washington County.  Shortly after 4:30 a.m., troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded on a report of a crash on State Route 68 (Lappans Road) and Prosperity Lane in Williamsport, Maryland involving a tractor-trailer and a Dodge Stratus. Paramedics on the scene pronounced the driver of the Dodge Stratus, Chad William Walden, 33, of Inwood, West Virginia to be deceased.

While investigating the crash, troopers determined that a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer was parked along the shoulder of Lappans Road when the Dodge Stratus struck the rear of the tractor-trailer. A trooper with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division was dispatched to the scene along with a reconstructionist to assist with the accident investigation.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration was on the scene as well and had closed Lappans Road at Governor Lane Boulevard for several hours after the crash before reopening the road by about 10 a.m. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
