Fatal Accident On I-70 W

On 4/25/18 at approximately 7:28 PM, the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack received a 911 call for an accident on westbound Interstate 70 west of Sharpsburg Pike.  The investigation revealed that a 2000 Hyundai Sonata that was driven by Tattum Havens, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 west of Sharpsburg Pike when the vehicle went off the left shoulder and into the median.  Upon entering the grassy median, the vehicle flipped several times and came to rest on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.  The driver was trapped and upon being removed from the vehicle was transported to Meritus Medical Center at which time she succumbed to her injuries.  The passenger, Michael Jordan, was transported to Meritus Medical Center to be evaluated.

The Maryland State Police are investigating a vehicle collision that resulted in one fatality.

On 04/27/2014 at approximately 0541 hours, Troopers along with Washington County Deputies, local Fire and EMS companies, responded to I-70 westbound on the exit 12 ramp to Big Pool Rd for a motor vehicle collision.

The initial investigation revealed that 24 year old Joshua Zane Finney of Hancock, MD was driving his 1999 Chevrolet S10 westbound on I-70 when he went off the roadway between I-70 and the exit 12 ramp to Big Pool Rd.  Finney lost control in the grass, striking a road sign before re-entering the roadway of the ramp.  The vehicle overturned ejecting Finney and came to rest on top of him.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene, no one else was injured.

The initial investigation is being conducted by Senior Trooper Thompson of the Hagerstown Barrack.
