Fatal Accident on Interstate 70

 On Thursday morning at approximately 7:32 A.M., Troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to the area of Eastbound Interstate 70 at the 26 mile marker for a motor vehicle collision involving a single truck tractor. The initial investigation revealed Vehicle #1, a 2020 Mack Truck Tractor bearing Oklahoma registration 3CS299 which was pulling two trailers began to swerve back and forth in the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons. The vehicle then struck the guardrail and overturned off the right shoulder of the roadway before coming to a rest.  

      The operator and sole occupant of Vehicle #1, Raymond Davenport Jr. (DOB 11/14/1956), of Fairfield, PA was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The collision is under investigation, Maryland State Police Accident Reconstructionist, M/Tpr. Jeremy Hite is the primary investigator.

The roadway was closed during the investigation and has now been reopened.
