April 18th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

A Moorefield man was arrested on various charges Thursday, including a felony drug offense for possession of amphetamines, according to the Keyser Police Department.

The Cumberland Times News reports Reginald D. Redman, 26, was observed on North Main Street late Thursday morning by Keyser Police officers who were aware that a warrant was on file for his arrest on charges of battery and violation of probation.

When contacted by officers, Redman reportedly reached into his pants pocket, causing officers to subdue him out of their concern that he was reaching for a weapon.

Redman was not carrying a weapon but was found in possession of .5 gram of amphetamines.

He was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute narcotics and was served a warrant for battery stemming from an incident in Keyser earlier in the week. He was also served a warrant for violation of probation in Mineral County.

Following appearance before a Mineral County magistrate, Redman was jailed Friday at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in lieu of bond totaling $5,800 bond in addition to being detained without bond for the probation violation, police said.
