Frostburg State University Set to Celebrate Homecoming Oct. 14 to 17

Frostburg State University welcomes students and graduates from all generations to celebrate Homecoming 2021. From Thursday, Oct. 14, to Sunday, Oct. 17, FSU will host a variety of events and festivities, including sports, a Hall of Fame Induction ceremony and reunions. 

The celebration kicks off on Thursday with the Retired Employee Luncheon in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall in the Lane University Center at noon. 

Friday morning, a Baseball Golf Invitational will be held at Rocky Gap Casino Resort at 8 a.m.; reservations are required. That evening, the Bobcat Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner begins at 5 p.m. in the Cordts PE Center Main Arena.; this event is by reservation only. 

Saturday is filled with activities and celebrations throughout the day and evening. At 9:30 a.m., the Women’s Volleyball Locker Room in the Cordts PE Center will be dedicated in memory of Lauren Weller Sidorowicz ’08. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., an Alumni Welcome Center will be set up in the upper lobby of the Lane University Center. Refreshments, games and activities for kids will be provided. This is also a chance for alumni to update their contact information and enter to win prizes. 

From 10 a.m. to noon the Jim Anderson Memorial Baseball Brunch will take place in Lane Manicur Hall. At 11 a.m. President Ron Nowaczyk will officially dedicate Brownsville Hall, FSU’s newest residence hall. The Bobcat Field Hockey Team will take on Mansfield University at Bobcat Stadium at 11 a.m.; admission is free. At 11:30 a.m., the Student Alumni Ambassadors and the Alumni Association Board of Directors will host the inaugural Corn Hole Tournament in the Bobcat Stadium parking lot; the cost for teams of two will be $20. Tailgating at Bobcat Stadium starts at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $20 per space and parking is on a first-come, first-served basis, but a space can be purchased in advance by visiting https://frostburgtix.universitytickets.com/w/?cid=170. Also on Saturday, there will be a Field Hockey Alumni Reception in the Hospitality Suite at Bobcat Stadium at 10 a.m. There will be a Sky Tour of the night sky followed by “From Earth to the Universe,” a 30-minute full-dome movie, in the Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology’s Multimedia Learning Center at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. 

At 11 a.m., walking tours to showcase new additions on campus will begin in the upper lobby of the Lane University Center. The Bobcat Volleyball Team will play Fairmont State University at noon in the Cordts Main Arena. The kickoff to the football game against Wheeling University will be at 2 p.m. in Bobcat Stadium; tickets are $5 for adults and free for children 17 and younger and FSU students with FSU ID. Back by popular demand, the All Alumni Reunion will be held in Lane Manicur Hall from 5 to 8 p.m.; reservations are required. Contact alumni@frostburg.edu to reserve a space for your group. There will also be areas for class years ending in 1 and 6, a cash bar and appetizers. The cost is $10 per person. 

Saturday evening, the Bobcat soccer teams will take on Wheeling University at Bobcat Stadium. The men’s game will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the women’s game at 8 p.m. 

Sunday is the final day of the Homecoming events. An Alumni Association Board of Directors meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Atkinson Room (232) in the Lane University Center. All alumni are welcome to attend. At 11:30 a.m., the Alumni Awards Luncheon will be held in Lane Manicur Hall to celebrate the accomplishments of FSU alumni and friends; reservations are required. The cost is $25 per person. A men’s alumni basketball game starts at noon in the Cordts Main Arena. Lastly, SGA will hold a “Big Event” at noon to clean up the streets of Frostburg. Everyone is invited to meet in the Lane Center’s lobby to participate.
