Frostburg State University Sets Virtual Commencement

May 10th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

Frostburg State University will recognize its spring 2021 graduates with a virtual commencement celebration on Friday, May 14, on the FSU website at www.frostburg.edu/commencement. Last week, graduates had an opportunity to participate in a “grad walk” featuring FSU President Ronald Nowaczyk offering individual graduate recognition as students crossed the stage. This week, FSU’s social media features student-decorated mortarboards, graduate photos, a welcome video from Frostburg alumni and other posts leading up to Friday.

An in-person commencement ceremony, postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held when large gatherings are again permitted.

The virtual celebration will feature addresses from Nowaczyk, University System of Maryland Regent James Holzapfel and the three student commencement speakers, Julia Hershman for the College of Business, Shawn Winans for the College of Education and Jordan Beachy for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Hershman, of Oakland, Md., is graduating with a bachelor’s in business administration and economics and concentrations in general management and business. Winans, of Columbia, Md., graduates with a bachelor’s in health and physical education. Beachy, of Grantsville, Md., earns his bachelor’s degree with a double major in English and Spanish.
