Frostburg State University’s ASTAR AmeriCorps Program to Host Annual Book and Resource Giveaway

April 7th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

Frostburg State University’s ASTAR AmeriCorps program will hold a Book and Resource Giveaway Community Outreach Project from Saturday, April 15, through Wednesday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at City Place, 14 S. Water St. in Frostburg.  The public is invited to choose from a large variety of items at no cost. This year’s event, open to the public, will feature food, clothing, books and other items. Note: This year’s event has a very limited supply of books and an increased amount of food and resources; those interested are encouraged to arrive early.

The ASTAR (Appalachian Service Through Action and Resources) Program was established in 1994 and provides direct, substantive service programs that build capacity with nonprofits and partnering agencies in areas that improve the literacy of children, enhance the health care and living conditions of children and elderly people, help at-risk youth by offering after-school programs, improve shelter and support services for low-income families and preserve the environment for Maryland communities.

FSU is committed to making all of its programs, services and activities accessible to persons with disabilities. To request accommodations through the ADA Compliance Office 301-687-3035.

This event is supported by FSU and ASTAR, which are an AmeriCorps grantee and receive funds as part of their national and state program, as well as the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism. For more information about the Community Outreach Project, contact the Office of Civic Engagement at FSU at civic.engagement@frostburg.edu
