FrostburgFirst, in cooperation with the City of Frostburg and Allegany County Commissioners, celebrated the grand opening of Tracks and Yaks with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 3rd. In attendance were Tracks and Yaks owners Adam and Julie Forshee with friends and family; Senator George Edwards; City of Frostburg Commissioners Nina Forsythe, Kevin Grove, and Donald Carter; and County Administrator Jason Bennett. Also in attendance were Nathan Price of Allegany County Economic Development, Ashli Workman and Jessica Palumbo of Allegany County Tourism, Frostburg City Administrator Elizabeth Stahlman, and FrostburgFirst Board of Directors Joseph Hoffman, Michael Summers, and Jenni Georgeson.
Tracks and Yaks is a unique rail-biking experience and the only one of its kind in the state. Visitors can pedal alongside the Great Allegheny Passage hiking and biking trail while enjoying spectacular views. Rail-biking is not physically strenuous, so visitors of all ages can easily appreciate the beautiful scenery and local history during a 2-hour excursion, gently pedaling and coasting 10 miles downhill to Cash Valley before being shuttled back to Frostburg.
Tracks and Yaks was founded by Adam Forshee and his wife Julie. Their love for the outdoors and new experiences led them to rail-biking. With years of research and several road trips, they were inspired to offer rail-biking excursions and wanted nothing more than to share this unique experience with others who come to the area.
