Garrett County Gets Funding Because of Kirwan Commission

January 26th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Garrett County’s Health Department has received funding from the Maryland Department of Health to complete a needs assessment for county school students and families. The assessment will identify missing healthcare needs and barriers affecting these students and families. Funding resulted from the Kirwan Commission’s recommendations that ultimately resulted in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. The assessment funding addresses resources beyond the required services for a child’s public school experience. Its intention is to ensure students can access all the assistance they need to succeed.
