GCPS to Implement Virtual Learning Days February 24-25

February 23rd, 2022 by WCBC Radio

A winter storm watch has been issued for our area and the storm is expected to bring significant freezing rain accumulations. Total ice accumulations of up to three-tenths of an inch are possible. Snow and sleet accumulations less than one inch are also possible, creating dangerous travel conditions Thursday and Friday.

With the safety of our students and staff in mind, all Garrett County Public Schools will shift to virtual learning Thursday and Friday, February 24-25, 2022.  Schools will be closed for in-person learning.  Students are to take all necessary learning materials home at the end of the school day today, including digital devices.

In accordance with the GCPS Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Plan 21-22, all staff members have been advised to be prepared to shift to virtual instruction for February 24th and 25th.  General guidelines pertaining to students may be found in the GCPS Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Plan 21-22, but students may have specific instructions from their school or teacher.

Students or parents experiencing technical difficulties may contact the IT Help Desk via phone at 1-888-285-7254 or email at helpdesk@garrettcountyschools.org.  For staff experiencing technical difficulty, please email it@garrettcountyschools.org (please note that you must email from your GCPS email address or the email will not go through).

Regular in-person instruction is scheduled to resume Monday, February 28, 2022, at this time.
