On April 19, 2023 the Grand Jury for Allegany County indicted 40 year old Holly Faye Wright, a Deputy with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, after hearing testimony and reviewing audio evidence related to an alleged fraud first reported to the Maryland State Police by the victim, Wright's ex-husband, on March 3, 2023.
After an extensive investigation by the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I), evidence was discovered that Wright had illegally accessed on line a bank account belonging to the ex-husband only, not a joint account, and removed monies from that account.
Wright has been charged via criminal summons with Theft, Perjury, Identity Theft/Fraud, and Obstruction of Justice. Wright has had her police powers suspended since the Sheriff's Office first became aware of the allegations. She is currently awaiting her next court appearance.
