On Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the Great Allegany Run and 5K, sponsored by the Queen City Striders and Allegany County Habitat for Humanity, will take place.

The 5K race will begin on Harrison Street, turning right onto Centre Street, then right onto Frederick Street, continuing through the downtown shopping center parking lot, and proceeding onto Queen City Drive. Runners will then turn right onto Mechanic Street and continue to a turnaround point near Southern States. After reaching the turnaround, participants will retrace their steps along the same route to return.

Runners participating in the Great Allegany Run will enter Cumberland via The Narrows (Route 36), continue south on Mechanic Street, and turn left onto Queen City Drive. They will proceed along Queen City Drive and turn onto Harrison Street, finishing at the Lila Building on Centre Street.

During the event, traffic will be temporarily halted along the race routes and all intersecting roads as runners pass through the area. Route 40 (leaving the city) will be closed to outbound traffic from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Residents and motorists in Cumberland should expect travel delays and are encouraged to plan accordingly.
