Great Allegheny Passage GAP Relay this weekend

October 12th, 2022 by WCBC Radio

WHAT:

The GAP Relay presented by UPMC Health Plan will test the grit of teams of four to eight runners by challenging them to run a two-day, non-stop relay. During this epic adventure, teams will start the race in Cumberland, Md., run the 150-mile Great Allegheny Passage and then cross the finish line in Pittsburgh. In addition, there’s a one-day 40-mile adventure race that starts in Whitsett for teams of two to eight. Afterwards, teams will celebrate their incredible accomplishment at a post-race party at Doublewide Grill in the Southside.

WHO:

Thirty-eight relay teams, comprised of more than 200 participants from 12 states, will pass through the Cumberland Narrows, cross the Mason-Dixon Line, top the Eastern Continental Divide, weave through the breathtaking Laurel Highlands, and more. Some teams are running to raise money for charities, and others are completing the challenge for bragging rights.
