A large crane removed the landmark welcome sign that has been located on the CBIZ building downtown for many years.  The old sign will be relocated and an even more colorful mosaic-like mural by local artist Kat Wharton will go up in its place. Wharton won the project in a contest held last year, according to Cumberland Main Street Manager Melinda Kelleher…

  

“The Allegany Arts Council had a contest with local artists for a mural on the side of this building since it is a focal point – it’s kind of the welcome area of the new downtown. There was an artist chosen and she is going to be working on getting the mural installed now and hopefully get it up before the end of the summer.”
