UPDATE: House fire in LaVale ruled accidental.

2:50 PM    Allegany County Emergency Services reported  a house fire on Klosterman Avenue in LaVale. Units are on the scene. The State Fire Marshals Office has issued the following report:

Date: January 9, 2020

Time: 10:39 a.m.

Location / Address:  8 Klosterman Avenue, LaVale, Allegany County

Type of Incident:  structure fire

Description of Structure / Property: two-story single-famiy dwelling

Owner / Occupants:  John Brailer / Daniel & Kelsey Carr

Injuries or Deaths:  none

Estimated $ Loss: Structure: $5,000   Contents: $3,000

Smoke Alarm Status: present and activated

Fire Alarm / Sprinkler Status:  not required

Arrests(s): none

Preliminary Cause:  accidental – dog jumped on kitchen gas stove and accidentally turned knobs on while occupants were not at home

Additional Information:  Occupants are displaced and are being assisted by family.

Allegany County Emergency Management reports units have now cleared the scene of a house fire in the area of Lions Field in LaVale.
