Infection Rate Up in Allegany County COVID Report

Allegany County’s COVID-19 case rate has reached 15.62 cases per 100,000 residents, the county’s highest rate in several months.  

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report the level of COVID community transmission for every county in the United States.  Community transmission is marked as either low, moderate, substantial, or high.  CDC reported that Allegany County had moderate community transmission last week and today, Allegany County has substantial community transmission.  

The Allegany County Health Department continues to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations every Wednesday on the ground floor of the Willowbrook Office Complex, 12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland.   From 9 a.m. to noon both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines are offered for those age 18 and older.  Then, from 1 to 4 p.m. the Pfizer COVID vaccine is offered for those age 12 and older.  No appointment needed.  Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • New COVID Cases:  46 (cumulative total 7,188) 
  • Additional Deaths:  0 (cumulative total 214)
  • Cases Per 100,000 Population:  15.62 (Maryland: 11.85)
  • Positivity Rate:  6.34% (Maryland: 4.16%)
