Investigation Continues

On Tuesday morning, 03/19/2013, at 2:56 AM, the Cumberland Police responded to a Davidson Street address in Cumberland for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival they located the body of 30 year old Chad Dylan Robinette in the front room, just inside the front door. The residence was secured, and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) was requested to respond to assist in the investigation.

Initial examination of the body by Investigators and a Forensic Investigator with the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office revealed a single puncture wound in the victim’s upper chest. There was no other obvious sign of trauma to the body.

The scene was processed for evidence by Evidence Collection Technicians with the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division. A knife with blood on it was recovered and is believed to be the instrument that caused the puncture wound to the victim. Other evidence recovered from the scene is being forwarded to the Maryland State Police Crime Lab for further analysis.

The victim’s body was sent to the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The results are pending.

Investigators with C3I interviewed the other four subjects who were present in the residence at the time the body was discovered. Additional witnesses are also being interviewed as part of the investigation.

The investigation is continuing by the Cumberland Police and C3I.

On Sunday morning, 10/07/2012, at 11:00 AM the Cumberland Police responded to a private residence on Rose Hill Avenue in Cumberland for a reported 19 year old male who was found dead in his bedroom by family members. Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) also responded to assist in the investigation. The scene was photographed and items collected by a Crime Scene Technician with the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division.

The body was sent to the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Investigators are waiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology tests, which may take several weeks.

As part of the investigation, Investigators interviewed numerous people to try to determine the victim’s whereabouts and what he was doing over the last several hours prior to his death. Investigators have not learned anything at this time that would indicate there was any foul play involved.

The investigation is continuing.
