Just 5 New COVID Cases Reported in Allegany County

The Allegany County Health Department will hold a walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic on the ground floor of the Willowbrook Office Complex (12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland) on Wednesday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to noon.  Both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines will be offered to anyone age 18 or older.  No appointment is needed.

 

“For more than a year now, COVID has kept us all from seeing loved ones and enjoying daily activities,” said Brenda Caldwell, Public Information Officer for the Allegany County Health Department.  “Now that vaccines are widely available, we are starting to see things return to normal for individuals who are fully vaccinated.  The vaccines are safe and effective, and getting vaccinated protects you and those around you.  It is the quickest way for our communities to get back to enjoying everyday activities.”

 

To date, 26,238Allegany County residents have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19 (37.3% of the population), with 23,862of those individuals now fully vaccinated with their second dose (33.9% of the population).The number of residents who have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine is2,826(4.0%).

 

By comparison, the state reported that 56.0% of all Marylanders had received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine, with 50.0% having had both doses and 4.2% vaccinated with the single-dose vaccine.
