Labor, Quality of Workers Concern For Independent Business

December 15th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

The National Federation of Independent Business says that 40% of all business owners reported jobs they could not fill in November.  Of those hiring or trying to hire, 93% reported few or no qualified applicants for the positions they were trying to fill. Maryland’s state NFIB director Mike O’Halloran said the labor shortage is showing no signs of easing and owners continue to deal with inflation, tax, and other challenges. O’Halloran says that this holiday season, Marylanders looking to support their community should shop their local small businesses into the New Year.
