Lakemont Park in Altoona will not operate their amusement rides this coming season, according to park officials. Citing lower attendance, high maintenance costs, and other financial challenges, officials said it was a difficult decision to make. Open since 1894, Lakemont is home to Leap-The-Dips, the oldest operating wooden rollercoaster in the world. The park will still maintain batting cages, basketball and volleyball courts, mini-golf, and picnic pavilions.
