Mindy Renae Moorehead, 40, of Ridgeley, has been sentenced to five years in prison in connection with the theft of over $1.5 million from Bill's Marine Service on Deep Creek Lake.
Garrett County Circuit Judge Ray Strubin initially sentenced Moorehead to a term of 15 years for the charge of Theft over $100,000, but suspended ten years of that sentence in favor of five years of probation. She's also to repay the balance of the funds.
After charges were filed in December of 2019, Garrett County State's Attorney Lisa Thayer Welch told WCBC that as company comptroller, Moorehead had been taking the money for several years. The theft was discovered during an audit at the end of last year.
