The long-anticipated remodel of the Downtown Cumberland Mall will soon be underway, with construction set to begin Monday. The $15 million renovation is expected to take 12-18 months to complete. The project will include removing the surface bricks and replacing underground utilities as well as creating a one-way traffic flow through the mall. In addition, the project will include several new parklets. Community leaders and local business owners are stressing that downtown businesses will remain open and accessible throughout the remodel.
