Maryland Avenue Drug Raid Nets Two Arrests

On May 12th, 2022, officers of the Cumberland Police Department, with the assistance of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue. Throughout the investigation officers had obtained information and evidence in regards to illicit drugs being distributed from the residence. After the execution of the search warrant a quantity of controlled dangerous substances, a large amount of US currency, and other evidence of distribution was located. Both Jenius Daniels and Victor Smith were placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner where they were both held on a $3,000 bond. This investigation was a coordinated effort between the Cumberland Police Department and the Department of Public Safety and Corrections under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN).  The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services provides grant funding and strategic support to MCIN member sites to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal organizations through inter-agency collaboration and data sharing to make Maryland safer.

 

Arrest: Jenius Larry Daniels, age 40, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession not Marijuana.

 

Arrest: Victor Charles Smith, age 60, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession not Marijuana.
