Maryland Governor Wes Moore brought relief to state veterans on Friday with the signing of several bills designed to lighten their tax load, provide for spousal/dependent burial, and set up a checkbox on tax returns for donations to a Maryland Veterans Trust Fund. The military retirement tax exemption will be increased from $5,000 to $12,500 for individuals under the age of 55 and from $15,000 to $20,000 for individuals over the age of 55.
