Maryland Governor pushing for $15 minimum wage this year

At the start of the new year, Maryland’s minimum wage increased to $13.25 per hour- and Governor Wes Moore plans on pushing to accelerate the process. The latest bump in minimum wage pay is part of an ongoing effort to reach $15 per hour, which will take place on Jan. 1, 2025 but some lawmakers are looking to expedite the process- and the state’s new governor, Wes Moore, ran on a campaign promise of accelerating the process and raising minimum wages to $15 per hour this year.
