Behind the scenes, work continues on the needed repairs for the City of Cumberland’s bridges.  First up for reconstruction is the Cumberland Street bridge, but a change in environmental regulations has caused a delay.  Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC that the Director of Engineering has one more item to take care of before it can go to bid – a study – on bats…

   

“Bobby Smith – I feel for this man and how hard he works, he’s got all of his ducks in a row and then they go hey you know we changed that law last year – you got to do a study on bats. I mean, they pay for it, but it’s just another delay.”
