As staffing shortages continue at the Cumberland City Police Department, Mayor Ray Morriss says efforts are underway to attract and retain officers. The department shortage has been fluid with the most recent numbers showing about five officers less than the target of around 50. Even with fewer officers than ideal, crime numbers in Cumberland have been down across the board.
