Moore, Trump Continue War of Words Over Crime

August 26th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Governor Wes Moore’s invitation to President Donald Trump to walk the streets of Baltimore was met with a not-so-veiled threat that Hub City could be next to see National Guard intervention.  The two have been trading jabs after Trump called out Baltimore for high crime rates.  Moore said federal intervention could help, but it needs to come in the form of more funding – funding that Trump’s budget has cut…

“It cuts funding to the bureaus of the FBI and the ATF that are supporting local jurisdictions like Baltimore. That it doesn’t do anything about things like ghost guns and these extended glock clips that allow these glocks to essentially turn into automatic weapons. Those are actually real tangible things that the President of the United States could do and where you could put capital to actually make our communities safer.”
