Future of Canal Place Still Undecided

Although the work of the Canal Place Task Force has largely been completed- a final report has yet to be issued. The seven-member Task Force, chaired by Delegate Jason Buckel, was appointed in March of 2018 to examine the future viability of Canal Place and whether any changes are needed.  Created in 1993, Canal Place is a unique blend of state and federally owned property . The 11-acre property features the railway station, two structures containing shops, a canal boat replica, festival grounds and the Footer’s Dye Works Building as well as land leased to the Fairfield Inn.
