Just before 11 a.m. the Industrial Blvd branch of M&T Bank was robbed, apparently at gun point, and police are now searching for a suspect. Police describe the suspect as a short, stocky white male. He was wearing dark rimmed glasses, a black tobogan cap with a bill, blue shorts and a dark t-shirt. After leaving the bank on foot, he is believed to have driven away in a gray or green colored mini-van without a roof rack. Cumberland City Police are being assisted by C3I; Maryland State Police Trooper Five; a K-9 unit; and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department. As a result of the situation, Fort Hill, Washington Middle, South Penn and John Humbird schools were placed in a Lock-in position, meaning no one was allowed to enter those buildings.
