Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2024 National Civics Bee launch, which aims to encourage more young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. The competition is open to all Allegany County middle school students in public, private, and homeschool curriculums. Students are encouraged to become better informed about local, state, and federal government issues and challenges in their communities.
All sixth, seventh, and eighth graders are invited to participate in the first round of the contest, a 500-word essay competition. The essay will allow the students to identify an opportunity or problem in their community and share their thoughts and ideas on how to address or solve it.
