No Plans for Mandates in County

Surge or no surge, there are no plans for any COVID-19 mandates in Allegany County. The latest COVID-19 numbers released by the Maryland Health Department shows a break in the surge with hospitalizations declining and the positivity rate dipping- however that rebound hasn’t been seen to the same extent locally with Allegany County’s numbers running consistently higher than the state averages.  Since the holidays, Allegany County has shown some of the worst numbers in the state, and in some cases the worst numbers seen during the life of the pandemic. Since the Coronavirus outbreak two years ago, Allegany County has not implemented any mandates  and despite the somewhat alarming numbers in recent weeks, County Commissioners President Jake Shade said he sees no reason to change course at this point…
