One dead, Three injured in weekend shooting in Frostburg

On Sunday morning, May 7, 2023, at 12:10 AM, the Frostburg Police and Frostburg State University Police responded to an off campus student rental on E. College Avenue for a reported shooting. When officers arrived they located a 20 year old male victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to UPMC Western Maryland for emergency medical treatment of his injuries, but was eventually pronounced dead.

Two other female victims were also victims of gunshots. One of the victims was transported to UPMC Western Maryland, and the other to WVU Medicine's Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser, West Virginia for treatment of their injuries. Both are in stable condition.

The male victim was not a student at Frostburg State University. The two female victims are current students at FSU.

The victim, who died as a result of his injuries, in the shooting which occurred early Sunday morning in Frostburg has positively been identified as 20 year old Alexander Ramon Redondo, of Westernport.

In addition another victim, a male student from FSU, responded to UPMC-Western Maryland by private vehicle late Sunday afternoon for treatment of a non-life threatening gun shot wound incurred as a result of the incident, making a total of four victims.Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to assist in the investigation.

Investigators learned that there had been a party at the residence when the shooting occurred.

The Allegany County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist in the investigation. The Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist by providing lighting.
