The Hagerstown Fire Department responded to a two alarm fire at an apartment building on Washington St. on Friday morning. Upon arrival, fire officials noted several residents still in the building. After rescue efforts were completed, officials reported 1 injury and 19 people displaced. As a result of the smoke damage, the structure was condemned. The City of Hagerstown Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the fire. No working smoke detectors were present in the apartment at the time of the fire.
