The annual plan for use of Project Open Space funds was presented at Thursday’s Allegany County Commissioner’s meeting. The funding comes through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources by way of taxes paid on property transfers in the state.  Monies are used to provide financial and technical assistance for planning and development of recreation and open space areas.  Adam Patterson, Public Works Director, explained to the commissioners that 18 projects submitted requests for funding with 17 recommended to be approved by the Commissioners at the August 31 meeting…
