The new board of Allegany County Commissioners will be sworn in prior to the start of the next meeting set for December 15th meaning that last night’s session was the last for Commissioner Jake Shade. Shade served eight years as a commissioner, opting not to seek a third term. Others speaking during the session were Mark Widmyer, Governor Hogan’s western Maryland representative and he presented Shade with a proclamation; former Allegany County Sheriff Gary Simpson and Delegate Jason Buckel. In two weeks, incumbents David Caporale and Creade Brodie Jr along with newcomer Bill Atkinson will be sworn in to four year terms.
