After 30 years, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has ended a funding contract with Real Alternatives, an organization that provides funding across the state to crisis pregnancy centers as well as groups that help new mothers with parenting skills and supplies. The funding began when Bob Casey was governor of the state to bring equity to funding for pregnancy centers and abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood. Real Alternatives dispenses funds to non-profits including maternity homes that provide housing and counseling for pregnant women. Last year, the organization received about $7million.
