On Monday, June 12th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to the area of Paca St and Lee St for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the juvenile victim of the alleged assault. The victim alleged that they were traveling in a vehicle with Luis Romero, 47, of Cumberland MD. An argument was said to have begun inside the vehicle and the juvenile was able to get out of the vehicle. It was then alleged that the juvenile was assaulted, being struck and then thrown to the ground. Other witnesses in the area It was reported that they had also observed the assault. As a result, Romero was placed under arrest. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was released on his own personal recognizance.

Charges: Assault 2nd Degree, Child Abuse: 2nd Degree – Custodian, Disorderly Conduct.
