Sheriff deputies make CDS arrest following motor vehicle crash in LaVale
On 01/24/2023, at approximately 1320 hours, Deputies were dispatched to the area of National Highway in LaVale Maryland for a reported motor vehicle crash. While conducting an investigation on scene, Deputies observed several factors consistent with criminal activity being displayed by the operator of the at fault vehicle for the motor vehicle crash. Deputies then spoke with this subject further, and determined he was in possession of controlled dangerous substances, and controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. On Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police arrested Samuel Stuart Resnick, 41, of Cumberland MD. Resnick was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on January 23rd. The warrant alleged Resnick failed to appear in District Court on a previous charge of driving on a suspended license. Cumberland City officials voted to seek $4.2 million in funding through a bond sale
Cumberland City officials voted last week to seek $4.2 million in funding through a bond sale to cover the cost of a variety of projects including water and sewer projects and the purchase of a number of police and fire vehicles. It was a somewhat shocking report card on learning loss released last fall that showed Maryland school test scores down along with scores across the country. It's all part of a national report showing learning loss is an ongoing casualty of the COVID-19 school shutdowns. Maryland saw scores drop among fourth and eighth graders. Columbia Gas construction will impact North Centre Street traffic
The City of Cumberland Engineering Department would like to notify the public on the behalf of Columbia Gas of Maryland that between January 26th, 2023 and February 10th, 2023 there will be construction performed on North Centre Street, between Bedford Street Extended and Market Street. Between these dates, this section of North Centre Street will be reduced to a 9-foot-wide driving lane. There will be no on-street parking permitted on North Centre Street during this time.
