Ridgley Men Arrested for Burglary

On August 26th, 2022 at approximately 2:00 pm officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 300 block of Davidson Street for a reported breaking and entering. Upon officer’s arrival they located an unsecured door, the property to be posted as no trespassing, and continued to check the residence. Officers then located Aaron Scott Long, and Chandler Long to be at the rear of the residence. The officers continued their investigation and learned that Chandler had been inside the residence. Aaron was released on a Criminal Citation for Trespassing and Chandler was placed under arrest for breaking and entering….

Cumberland Police Department Respond to Pershing Street Fight

On August 27th, 2022 at approximately 1:30 am officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Pershing Street and Mechanic Street for a reported fight in progress. Officers arrived on scene and observed a large crowd of people. In this large crowd officers observed Amia Denise Blowe and Iyana Tanae Smith to be engaged in a fight in the street. As officers placed Smith and Blowe under arrest they observed a second fight occurring involving Jaylyn Butler, and another male. Monkeypox cases increase in Maryland

A review of current data on Friday showed Maryland's total number of monkeypox cases has tripled. WBAL reports three weeks ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a little more than 150 cases statewide. Now Maryland has reported 461 total cases, according to a new data dashboard. Earlier this month, the Baltimore City Health Department administered 60 proactive doses and had to hit the pause button on new appointments. Deadline looms to apply for Maryland student loan debt relief tax credit

Marylanders paying off their student loans still have time to apply for debt relief to help lessen the amount they still owe. The deadline for the state’s Student Loan Debt Relief Tax Credit Program for Tax Year 2022 is Sept. 15. “Going to college may seem out of reach for many Marylanders given the huge expense, but tax credits like these help make it possible. Westernport man arrested after drug raid

A Westernport man was arrested this week on drug charges after the Allegany County Sheriff's Office response team raided his residence.  Marc Christopher Coleman II was arrested at an unspecified location following the court-ordered police operation that reportedly led to discovery of suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia inside his residence in the 400 block of Poplar Street. Following the arrest after execution of a search and seizure warrant, Coleman was ordered released on his personal recognizance by a district court commissioner, pending trial in district court.
