Police Serve Arrest Warrant

On January 12th, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on Tanya Dom. The Arrest Warrant was issued by the District Court on December 29th, 2021 in reference to a trespassing incident in April of 2021. Officers placed Dom under Arrest and she was taken before a District Court Commissioner where she was released on her own recognizance.   Arrest: Tanya Marie Dom, age 35, Cumberland Maryland. Contingency Plans Needed in WV after Governor Tests COVID Positive

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice announced late Tuesday that he had tested positive for Coronavirus and was having moderate symptoms.   He is being treated by a team of doctors, including Dr. Clay Marsh. COVID Spike Strains Local EMS

The Allegany County Health Department (ACHD) is asking the public’s help to alleviate the unprecedented strain that COVID-19 and its emerging variants have placed on the area’s emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, frontline responders, and hospitals. Georgie Greenthumb Passes at 78

You heard, and likely benefitted, from his expertise for decades on WCBC. George Smith, who was the star of Ask Georgie Greenthumb along with Doc Webster, has died at the age of 78 in Monroe, Michigan.   Arrangements are being handled by Adams Family Funeral Home. ACPS Updates COVID Policy

Allegany County Public Schools will begin implementing new isolation and quarantine guidelines recommended by the CDC and Maryland Department of Health.   Individuals positive for COVID-19 may return to school after five full days of isolation and improved symptoms. Any person positive for COVID-19 who has completed five full days of isolation, and has improved symptoms by January 19th, may return to school on that date. Improved symptoms include no fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours, and no active cough. Gov. Jim Justice announced today that Nucor Corporation has selected Mason County, West Virginia, as the location for a state-of-the-art sheet steel mill. Former Maryland AG Steve Sachs Dies at 87

Steve Sachs, who served as Attorney General of Maryland from 1979 to 1987, has died at the age of 87. Sachs unsuccessfully ran for Governor against eventual winner William Donald Schaefer in 1986.  He retired from private practice in 1999, but advised former Governor Martin O'Malley on legal issues involving the state police in 2006.
