Cumberland Man Cited for Missing Trial on Vehicle Charges
On Saturday, Cumberland Police served a District Court bench warrant on Travis Lee Houdershell. The warrant was issued for failing to appear for trial back on April 13th, 2021 for several motor vehicle violations. Allegany County’s COVID-19 case rate has remained the highest in Maryland for eight consecutive days, with Garrett and Washington Counties also among the jurisdictions with the highest COVID case rates in the state. Gunfire in McCoole
According to Maryland State Police, a suspect has been developed in a shooting incident Thursday afternoon in which a McCoole residence was struck by gunfire. The Cumberland Times News reports no injuries were reported in the 3:30 p.m. incident on McCoole Drive Southwest, which remains under investigation by state police criminal investigators and the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force. No specific information was developed during the initial investigation as to possible suspects or description of a vehicle that may have been involved in the incident. Cumberland Man Arrested on Assault Charges
On Friday, Sthe Cumberland City Police arrested Corey Francis Schriner, 23, of Cumberland MD. Schriner was arrested on an outstanding Bench Warrant for failing to appear in Circuit Court for a previous assault charge. Since Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has decreased by a penny. Today’s national average of $3.18 is down a cent compared to this time last week, but is three cents more than a month ago and is 99 cents more than a year ago. Here in Maryland, today’s average of $3.09 is up five cents on the week and is 86 cents more than last year on this date. The statewide increase makes it the second largest in the nation. On Thursday, CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation for a booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in certain populations and also recommended a booster dose for those in high risk occupational and institutional settings. Weekly COVID-19 Update: For the week of September 17-23, 2021, Mountain Ridge High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education met the Maryland Department of Health's (MDH) definition of a school-wide outbreak of COVID-19 by having three or more classrooms/cohorts with at least two or more positive cases within a 2-week period.
